Homeowner beware. This man is a CraigList scammer that took me for several thousand dollars. He presented himself as an honest businessman with a construction crew. Took a large upfront deposit and never completed any work.

Please help spread the word. He usually works with someone name David (tile installer). These guys are not to be trusted.

Why has the law enforcement not put a stop to this guy!! He is all over the metroplex taking money but delivering no value. He is the worst criminal of them all; destroys our nation trust!!

He gives customers a bud on the job and gets them to cur him a check to star the job. Once he has a down payment he nevet does what he ensures will be done.

Joseph E. Prada (or Joseph E.

Prado) agreed to install laminate floors on the second floor in my mom's house - a total of 800 sq feet. The total work was estimated at $1,500. In addition Joseph suggested to change the old decking and replace it with plywood. He estimated material cost at $1,400 which included 45 sheets of plywood, 220 feet of baseboards, 20 rolls on insulation.

The workers worked for 1 day, and as it turned out later (based on conversation with one of them), Joseph pushed them to finish work fast in living room asap and not replace the old decking. He told them to lie to me and tell me that the new plywood was installed and that insulation was put throughout the living room. Joseph refused to provide any checks for the materials and all I have in my house is the 8 sheets of plywood and the total mess and unlivable condition.

Btw, a construction engineer who came yesterday to estimate the damage told that the plywood was not supposed to be used upstairs at all as it can cause damage to the foundation of the house.

I want to warn all who is thinking of hiring J&S construction - please don't give them your money upfront even for materials and please look carefully at the work because this guys is dishonest. I trusted him because he claims to be a true Christian on his website but he turned out to be a biggest *** I ever met in my life.

J & R Renovation & Construction 972302****. Wanted half down on a project (stupidly I gave it to him). The first day his "worker" shows up 3 hours late, works for about 3.5 hours and then leaves. The job was never finished.

I called "Joe" back and he said he would get someone out there later. Never showed. Said they would be out the next day at 8am. Never showed.

Said he was working to get someone out there that day. After not hearing back from him in over two hours, I called and cancelled the work. He said he would refund me the deposit minus one day work. For three days he stringed me along, saying he would "bring the money by" at this time.

Never showed. Stopped answering my calls and texts. I called him on another phone and he picked up right away. Always the same excuse "I'm out of state, out of town, etc.".

When I finally told him I was going to file theft charges on him, instead of trying to reconcile the situation, he goes into "excuse" mode.

He said since he had someone out at my place and since he tried to get someone else out there BEFORE I cancelled, it wasn't theft. Never offered to refund again.

I gave him $800 deposit for some concrete work. He did not call me at all after that as we agreed upon to set up a day to start.

He called the day after it had rained heavily wanting to get the workers over late that evening to start and to let me know he needed $250 more for the concrete. I asked him to return my deposit since this is was not within the terms of our agreement.

I have since requested that he give me all of the materials he supposedly purchased and provide me with all receipts for materials (that he claims he has) so that I can recover my money and to also return the money he paid his workers supposedly for labor that was never performed. I am currently filing a complaint with the consumer protection division for the state of Texas and I will take whatever time and effort required to stop this type of fraudulant activity by this individual.

Joseph showed up to my house and gave me a low bid. I paid him half down deposit...then read all of these reviews later that night.

I called him to get me deposit back, he said he was going to mail it.

These folks unfortunate situation sounds just like ours with the ongoing lying and flat out scammer practice of Joe Prada. Seems after owing us a few hundred dollars and not paying sub contractor who installed our floor, he's out taking advantage of a few new unsuspecting victims.

He still hasn't returned our phone calls and of course we haven't seen our money owed us. To think that he was calling only halfway through the floor installation to ask for more money to get everything lined up for the bathroom installation infuriates me.

We told him we wanted to take this one project at a time and gave him no further payment.
